Overview
Nepal, officially known as the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal, is a landlocked nation in South Asia’s central Himalayas. Seven states, 75 districts, 4 metropolises, 13 sub-metropolises, 246 municipal councils, and 481 villages make up the country of Nepal. It is the 93rd largest country in terms of land and has a population of 26.4 million. It is the biggest independent Himalayan state, bordering both China and India to the north, south, east, and west, respectively.
Bangladesh, although is barely 27 km (17 mi) from the southeastern tip of Nepal, does not border Nepal. It does not border Bhutan either because Sikkim, an Indian state, is situated between them.
Eight of the ten tallest mountains in the world, including Mount Everest, the highest point on Earth, are found in Nepal, along with fertile plains, subalpine wooded slopes, and other geographical features. The largest city and capital of Nepal is Kathmandu. With Nepali as its official language, Nepal is a multiethnic country.
